Telephone CallsTelephone calls regarding your pet are welcome at any time. During periods of surgery and office hours when patients are being seen, it may be difficult to return your call immediately. If the condition warrants talking to a veterinarian immediately, please relay this to the receptionist or feel free to call back if your call has not been returned within a reasonable time. Back to TopMedicationsThe wrong medications at the wrong time can be very detrimental to your pet's health. Always. follow the directions on your pet's medication precisely...do not save them for future use. Never give your pet human pain killers or other human medication - they can be deadly. Use only medicine that has been prescribed by a veterinarian and KEEP ALL MEDICATION OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN AND PETS. When a refill is necessary, please call the office since most medication, even refills, must be approved by the veterinarian. Back to TopVisits | Boarding | GroomingVisiting the sick animal is at our discretion since the excitement of your visit could be stressful. As a general rule we do not board pets. The elderly patient with medical problems may be the exception. We can recommend several good boarding facilities. For the well being of your pet we recommend that the vaccinations be brought up to date. Most kennels require the Intra / Trac nasal vaccine to prevent kennel cough in dogs. Routine professional grooming makes a more enjoyable pet and helps prevent many common skin ailments. We have a professional groomer on staff and are happy to provide this service. Back to TopGeneral HealthHaving your pet vaccinated against contagious diseases may be one of the most important things you ever do for your pet. We can advise what is best for your individual pet, but here are some guidelines: Puppies should begin vaccinations at 6-8 weeks of age, while kittens begin at 8-10 weeks. Annual boosters are needed to maintain health protection. Dogs should be vaccinated against Distemper, Parvovirus and Rabies. Cats should be immunized for Panleukopenia (Distemper), Feline Leukemia, respiratory viruses and Rabies. All pets should have a stool sample checked yearly for intestinal parasites. Dogs should also have a yearly blood test for heartworms and be put on a preventative year -round. Veterinary medicine has made great strides in recent years and pets are now enjoying much longer and more trouble-free lives, with the aid of qualified and conscientious health care professionals. We look forward to helping you enjoy the happiness that a healthy pet can provide. We invite you to allow the College Hill Pet Clinic to become your partner in providing the finest in health care for your pet.
